I have spent the last few days surfing...
Friday I saw a zombie movie..."Dawn Of The Dead"...bloody awful.
Hours later, I sat in a room full of 500 people and chanted with Krishna Das, or "KD" as he is known to his kirtan coat tail riding groupies.
I am a KD groupie.
Om Nama Shiva
Heart opening ecstacy, communion with my Buddha nature, and an onion induced indigestion that seemingly stood between me and total enlightenment.
There will always be an onion.
To transform the onions of our lives into pearls, we needn't do anything other than realize that the only obstacle is ourself. No self, no obstacle. No beginning, no end.
After the chant, I slept like a hibernating bear and awoke hungover from the Fellinnian nightmares of the night before.
Then we went for Chai's at India Sweets & Spices where we purchased tooth powder that tasted like ass...and not in a good way.
Then we skipped off to the Museum Of Jurassic Technology.
One of the people I was with (an MJT virgin) came up to me and said..."I don't get it". I said, "I felt that way the first few times I came here. Then I realized something. There is nothing to get. Nothing to understand or interpret. Just look around and enjoy the experience."
No longer exhausted by trying to figure it all out, I am now (temporarily) energized by non-knowing, non-doing, just being.
Comfortable with uncertainty, intimate with mystery.
Then back to uncomfortable.
Life...a museum of wonder, darkness, and story that is enjoyed best by those who give up grasping at that which is ungraspable.
Let go, ungrasp, unwind, undo, under, under, under the mask of theory, of scrutiny, of judgement lies the blissful field of wonderous emptiness.
So hard, so fucking hard.
Yet so easy in the end.
Maybe after many lifetimes we finally get that this museum of jurassic technology, this life, this moment, this story is just a bad dream, or a wet dream, or an illusion.
Sit back, enjoy the show, ride the wave.
Undo your knots, your nots, and chant your prayers backwards, forwards, through and through and through and out.
